Before you can start using the app, you need to have an Apple ID and you have to sign up for the single our family membership. After you sign up, you will be greeted by Apple Music’s new and improved user interface. The layout has a combination of white and red, while the icons are bigger, inviting you to explore all the features the app has to offer. The menu is revamped and has the following options:

All the above options are prominent and extremely easy to navigate. Under playlists, you can create your own custom playlists. When you are creating a playlist, you have the option of making it public or private. You can also change the title and add a description if necessary.

When you start Apple Music for the first time, you have to tell it about your taste in music so that it can suggest artists and bands you are most likely to like. All the music you like while using the app and the ones you selected at the start will be suggested under the For You section. As you continue to use the app over a period of time, the For You section will become more accurate. You will also find differently themed playlists such as Madonna vs Lady Gaga and Eric Clapton’s music during his early years.

Apple Music has access to over 20 million songs that are taken from iTune’s library. However, there are certain albums by Prince and Taylor Swift that are missing from Apple Music.

On the plus side, you can listen to songs you like in an option called Radio. Here you will find various music stations such as Disney Princess Radio and Hip-Hop Workout Anthems. There are also non-music stations such as ESPN Sports and NPR News. Basically, Apple Music is trying to cater to the needs of an extremely diverse crowd.

Apple Music gives you control over the quality of music when you are using mobile data. If you are running out of data, you can switch to lower quality streaming. However, you will only notice the difference between high and low quality when you are an audiophile.

Apple Music allows you to follow your favorite artists and bands through its Connect social network. Over here, artists can share what they are thinking and their material while their fans can interact and comment on them.
